Heck, I even perfected my drawing skills from the cartoons themselves! (As shown below)
My entire family had become hooked. Dad would start asking and making random questions/comments about the show like "Sokka is so funny!", "Why didnt Azula just firebend on Zuko when she had the chance to?", "That is cool." James, Dad and I were your typical Avatar fans. My favourite character was a toss up between Azula and Toph. Azula for her discipline and rightousness and Toph for her cool factor. James's was Aang (typical!) and Dad's was Iroh (i think!) I researched all the bending techniques :$ Water bending = Tai Chi, Fire bending = Karate, etc. And was transfixed on the ability to "bend the elements".

So when my family heard that a movie, based on the cartoon, was coming out, we went crazy. That was until we found out that the characters werent asian!! Like they were supposed to be in the cartoon! We had our doubts.. pretty much everyone did. But we were willing to give it a go. It's had such a major impact in our lives, so why not give it a chance? I was fine with it. I still wanted to go see it even though i knew that my hopes were too high for it. So on the 17th of September 2010, the entire Bui family headed to the movies to watch The Last Airbender!
*FACT: Avatar had already been copyrighted by the Na'avi people. So they just had to stick with The Last Airbender rather than Avatar: The Last Airbender.
So we got to Liverpool and mum asked me to buy the tickets. I go up to the booth and ask for two child and two adult tickets to Avatar. The guy goes "I'm sorry, Avatar isnt in cinemas anymore. Would you like to watch another movie?" Then I look at him and say "Are you serious? It just came out!" and then he said "What movie did you want to see again?", Me: "Avatar The Last Airbender" Him: "OOOH The Last Airbender, sure!" -SIGGGH- People these days. Get updated!! We went in and I had to go potty. When I came out, I saw my father admiring the vitual games section (Daytona, Time crisis, etc) and mum and James admiring the Skill Tester thingos. I remember when my mum told me that when her and my dad were still "going out" he took her to the movies and they used to play shooting games together. L-O-L. So i approached him and go "Dad, do you know how to play?" and he says "Yeah, you just shoot", then, with my expertise, i reply "The pedal is used for hiding but its better when you play it with two players because you get to help each other". Then he asked me how much a game was. That was when I suddenly said "Oh, Mum wants me." I wasnt going to play a shooting game with my Dad and let him down. It would scar me for life.
We then went into the cinema (15 minutes early) to wait/watch our movie! Mum bought me a choc top, so i nibbled on that and finished it... Before the movie started! I hate it when you buy popcorn or a drink or something and you finish half of it before the movie even started. Ai-yah.
Well, the movie was hilarious. Some bits were disappointing because they werent what i expected. When you think about it, they had to cram like 25 episodes into a 2 hour movie, so it had to be dodgy. I understood how they had to try to make a modern adaptation of the cartoon in real life and not copy it from the cartoon entirely.
To the actress who plays Katara;
Its pronounced Ai-ng not Uh-ng. And its not Uh-vatar. ><>
To the actor who played Aang;
For a newbie into the film industry, he did good! The technique was awesome and the acting was average. I finally know why they chose him to play Aang... He kinda looks and talks like him o_o
To the actor (Jackson Rathbone!) who played Sokka:
If his one-liners weren't in the movie, I literally wouldve just walked out. Sokka brings the humor into this movie and thankgod, he did. I LOL'd.
KB RATING: 7/10
